Our drum teachers
Every Rising Stars teacher is a working musician, and every one of them teaches from the same shared approach.
We match you with the teacher who fits your schedule, age, and level. We have Spanish-speaking teachers too.
- Every teacher learns each student's name and goals, and uses that first name in every lesson.
- One new idea per lesson, practiced until it sticks, so progress builds week to week.
- Repetition and listening: a few focused minutes of practice a day, and singing along from the first lesson.
- The same method books across the school, so a student can move between teachers without starting over.
“Sean and his team have been teaching my daughter piano for 2 years and she loves it! We previously used another music school for 6 months and she had made essentially no progress. She started immediately improving once we moved her to Rising Stars.”William W.
What drum lessons cover
Every drum lesson happens on a full kit. The school has full drum kits in two of our lesson rooms.
- Keeping steady time, the skill every band needs most.
- Grooves and fills in rock, funk, and the music you like.
- Reading rhythms, so practice at home makes sense.
- Books matched to age: My First Drum Lesson Book for the youngest, then Alfred's Kid's Drum Course and the Hal Leonard Drumset Method.
For kids and adults
Drums are one of the two instruments we suggest for the youngest students, ages 3 to 5, along with piano.
Adults love drum lessons: a full kit you do not have to own, a weekly time that is yours, and a teacher who keeps you moving forward.

Common questions
Who are the teachers?
Every Rising Stars teacher is a working musician, and they all teach from one shared approach and the same method books. We match each student with the teacher who fits their schedule, age, and level, and we have Spanish-speaking teachers.
How young can my child start?
Age 3. For ages 3 to 5 we usually suggest piano or drums, since small hands find guitar frets hard. Kids 3 and 4 can start with a 15-minute lesson for $30.
Do I need a drum kit at home?
Not to get started. Lessons happen on the full kits at the school. You will want something to practice on at home as you go, and your teacher can help you choose what fits your space.
What does it cost?
$50 for a 30-minute lesson, and you pay as you go. Longer lessons are $70 for 45 minutes and $90 for an hour. No packages to buy up front, no sign up fees, and no contracts.
Is the first lesson a trial?
There is no trial lesson. Your first lesson is a full lesson with one of our teachers. Because everything is pay as you go, there is no commitment beyond it. If you love it, we hold your weekly slot.
How does scheduling work?
Once it clicks, we hold the same weekly time just for you. Your card is charged about a day before each lesson, and you can skip a week with more than 24 hours' notice.
Do you have Spanish-speaking teachers?
Yes. We have Spanish-speaking teachers, and lessons can be taught in Spanish. Sí, tenemos maestros que hablan español.
